About the position

The Data Center Facilities Tier 1 Technician is responsible for supporting the ongoing monitoring and daily management of building systems and physical infrastructure at LightEdge facilities. This role involves performing routine maintenance, troubleshooting equipment issues, and ensuring compliance with applicable codes and audit requirements. The technician will work in a dynamic corporate environment, collaborating with team members and vendors to optimize infrastructure and provide client support.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot problems with data center equipment in collaboration with personnel, contractors, and vendors.
  • Install servers and networking equipment into racks with associated network cabling.
  • Facilitate new client service installations in coordination with project managers and technicians.
  • Receive and document incoming shipments.
  • Respond to and resolve alarm events affecting infrastructure and services.
  • Follow established Change Control processes and review MOPs for Change activities.
  • Assist in the design layout, installation, and documentation of new racks and cages.
  • Participate in on-call rotation to support non-business hours and oversee maintenance activities by vendors.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of Lightedge physical infrastructure and building systems.
  • Work with clients to resolve cabinet/cage infrastructure issues and power utilization.
  • Ensure operational efficiencies and best practices for maintaining availability of facilities.
  • Share technical knowledge and operational experience with team members.

Requirements

  • Minimum of two-year technical degree or 1-4 years equivalent experience in a technical environment or military MOS.
  • Experience with network cabling termination (Ethernet, CAT6, Fiber).
  • Familiarity with day-to-day standard maintenance activities in data centers.
  • Robust computer user hardware and software skills, with high proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Working knowledge of electricity and electrical literature.
  • General understanding of data center cooling systems and airflow management techniques.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize activities in a complex, fast-paced environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw sound conclusions.
  • Experience documenting policies and procedures.
