About the position
CBRE Data Center Solutions is dedicated to delivering fully converged real estate, facilities, and technology solutions for data center owners, occupiers, and investors globally. This role is crucial as it oversees the operations and development of a team of Critical Environment engineers on-site, ensuring they provide both Preventative Maintenance (PM) and Repair Services to the Client and their customers within the agreed Service Level Agreement (SLA). The position also involves assisting the client's Data Center Manager by providing support for Data Center operations and ensuring the provision and maintenance of Critical Environment services on-site. In this role, you will manage unforeseen circumstances that arise and provide relevant feedback to both the Client and CBRE management as necessary. Mentoring and motivating the Critical Environment team is essential, as is providing them with regular feedback to ensure continuous improvement. You will be responsible for identifying areas where training is necessary and ensuring that Configuration Management (CM)MS Work Orders, Preventative Maintenance (PM), Configuration Management (CM), or Repairs are completed within the agreed SLA timeframe, escalating issues when they cannot be resolved promptly. You will also oversee the completion of facility infrastructure equipment installations and Information Technology equipment power installations, ensuring they are completed within the agreed SLA timeframe and adhere to applicable internal, manufacturer, and industry standards. Daily routine checks and cleanup of the data halls will be part of your responsibilities, along with mechanical and electrical troubleshooting support for various systems such as chillers, Computer Room Air Conditioning (CRAC), Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS), and more. It is crucial to ensure that all deployments are installed according to applicable standards and that all records and documentation are kept up to date, including Method Statements and Risk Assessments for safe working practices.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the operations and development of a team of Critical Environment engineers onsite.
- Ensure the provision of Preventative Maintenance (PM) and Repair Services to the Client and their customers within agreed SLA.
- Assist the client's Data Center Manager in supporting Data Center operations.
- Manage unforeseen circumstances and provide feedback to Client/CBRE management as necessary.
- Mentor and motivate the Critical Environment team, providing regular feedback for improvement.
- Identify areas for training within the team.
- Ensure timely completion of Configuration Management (CM)MS Work Orders, PM, and Repairs within SLA.
- Oversee facility infrastructure equipment installations and IT equipment power installations within SLA.
- Conduct daily routine checks and cleanup of data halls, recording findings.
- Provide mechanical and electrical troubleshooting support for various systems.
- Ensure all deployments are installed to applicable internal, manufacturer, and industry standards.
- Maintain up-to-date records and documentation for all applicable processes.
- Prepare Method Statements and Risk Assessments for all tasks to ensure safe working practices.
Requirements
- High School Diploma/GED required; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
- 5-8 years of experience in mechanical or electrical engineering preferred.
- Accredited training in the installation of DC Facilities Infrastructure and Building Management System (BMS) preferred.
- Proven knowledge of Critical Facility or DC equipment and their components including UPS, PDU, STS, EG, CRAC, CRAH, etc.
- Strong understanding of the Data Center environment and applicable working restrictions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills.
- Ability to provide efficient, timely, reliable, and courteous service to customers.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to sensitive issues.
