About the position

As an Operations Manager at AWS, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and operating critical infrastructure systems within the world's most powerful data centers. This position involves overseeing the performance and availability of data center operations, ensuring high-quality standards while fostering a diverse and inclusive work environment. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize resource management, drive continuous improvement initiatives, and support the development of team members.

Responsibilities

  • Foster cross-functional collaboration with HR, finance, procurement, and other teams to ensure smooth operations and promote diversity and inclusion.
  • Develop and manage budgets, allocating resources efficiently and controlling costs while meeting operational and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor and assess performance metrics related to operational efficiency, productivity, quality, and customer satisfaction, identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of staff members involved in operations, including hiring, training, scheduling, and performance management.
  • Oversee all aspects of the data center's critical physical infrastructure, ensuring high-quality work without impacting customers.
  • Develop plans and protocols for emergency preparedness and business continuity, ensuring safety for all individuals.
  • Operate as the after-hours on-call Operational Manager for the data centers, managing issue investigation and recovery.

Requirements

  • High school or equivalent diploma.
  • 5+ years of experience in successfully leading diverse teams and implementing operational strategies.
  • 6+ years of experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and other basic administrative tools.
  • 5+ years of experience in managing projects, including planning, execution, and resource allocation.
  • 5+ years of experience in data analysis and interpreting key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • 5+ years of experience in driving continuous improvement initiatives.

Nice-to-haves

  • A bachelor's degree in Operations Management or a related discipline.
  • 7+ years of experience working in data centers with an emphasis on building and equipment operation.
  • An excellent understanding of the electrical and mechanical systems involved in critical data center operations.
