About the position

As a Data Center Facility Technician - Mechanical at CBRE, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our Data Center facilities. This position involves performing preventative maintenance and corrective repairs within a Data Center environment, which is part of our Critical and Technical Services job function. You will be responsible for maintaining technical systems in critical client environments, ensuring that all mechanical and engineering systems are functioning optimally and safely. Your daily responsibilities will include conducting site inspections of all mechanical and engineering systems, performing routine maintenance, and responding to alarms from the Building Management System (BMS). You will also be tasked with completing emergency repairs as necessary and working closely with third-party vendors to ensure compliance with established processes and regulations. It is essential to alert management if subcontractor performance does not meet the requirements outlined in the Master Service Agreement. In addition to maintenance tasks, you will be responsible for checking BMS for running and alarm conditions, responding to HVAC-related client issues, and conducting building walkthroughs to take meter readings from UPS, PDUs, and utilities. You will also need to document all maintenance activities and ensure that all safety processes and regulatory requirements are adhered to. This role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to maintaining high-quality standards in all aspects of your work.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with daily site inspections of all Mechanical & Engineering systems and technical equipment, including servicing and maintenance.
  • Ensure the site's environmental conditions provide a safe work environment.
  • React to Building Management System alarms, and complete emergency repairs as needed.
  • Work with third-party vendors, ensuring compliance with company-developed processes, procedures, and all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Alert management if subcontractor performance doesn't meet all requirements per the Master Service Agreement.
  • Complete planned preventative maintenance (PM) and reactive maintenance on all equipment.
  • Check BMS for running and alarm conditions and respond to HVAC-related client problems.
  • Conduct building walkthroughs, taking meter readings from UPS, PDU's and utilities.
  • Provide fixes to facility and plant faults and defects.
  • Complete assigned work according to established processes and procedures.
  • Follow all safety processes and requirements and ensure all regulatory requirements and quality standards are met.
  • Conduct routine quality checks for comprehensive maintenance records.
  • Complete all required training to ensure successful completion of all job-related responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Training in a Technical discipline having served an apprenticeship or equivalent with 1-2 years of job-related experience.
  • Ability to work shifts that may include weekends and holidays.
  • Must be able to meet the physical requirements of this role.
  • Ability to effectively present information to an internal department, client, management and/or colleagues.
  • Ability to follow basic work routines and standards in the application of work.
  • Communication skills to exchange straightforward information.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Strong organizational skills with an inquisitive mindset.
  • Basic math skills, including the ability to calculate simple figures such as percentages, discounts, and markups.
