About the position

As a Data Center Hardware Technician (overnights) at Fiserv, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional onsite support for our systems engineers, architects, and supporting vendors. This position is crucial for the tactical implementation of IT solutions in alignment with Fiserv's data center operations program standards. You will be responsible for composing documentation and regular process updates based on feedback from management, ensuring that all operations run smoothly and efficiently. Your primary responsibilities will include physically racking and stacking servers and network equipment according to layout diagrams and specifications. You will also perform cable installations, which involve routing, terminating, and managing structured cabling systems. Additionally, you will install and maintain data servers and network equipment, supporting vendors and engineers with upgrades, including CPUs, memory, and network cables. Routine production and non-production administration, monitoring, and troubleshooting of IT hardware will be part of your daily tasks, along with providing escalation-level support to remote offices. You will work with data center-specific trade tools and maintain detailed records of installations, configurations, and maintenance activities. Training will occur during the day shift before transitioning to your regular overnight shift, which will be from 10 PM to 7 AM on either Tuesday-Saturday or Sunday-Thursday. This role requires a commitment to working flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, to support our 24/7 data center operations.

Responsibilities

  • Physically rack and stack servers and network equipment according to layout diagrams and specifications
  • Perform cable installations, including routing, terminating, and managing structured cabling systems
  • Install and maintain data servers and network equipment
  • Support vendors and engineers with upgrades, including CPUs, memory, and network cables
  • Perform routine production and non-production administration, monitoring, and troubleshooting of IT hardware
  • Provide escalation level support to remote offices
  • Work with data center specific trade tools
  • Maintain detailed records of installations, configurations, and maintenance activities
  • Train on dayshift before moving to your regular shift which will be 10 PM-7 AM on either Tuesday-Saturday or Sunday-Thursday

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience working in a 24x7-365 data center
  • High school diploma or equivalent

Nice-to-haves

  • DCCA or other industry recognized data center certification
  • Demonstrated administrative capacity to translate current and new business requirements into operational process
  • Familiarity with ITIL V3 and change management principles
  • Experience with Microsoft Office 365 (Excel, Teams and SharePoint)
  • Associate's degree in computer networking or a similar field
