About the position

As a Data Center Hardware Technician (second shift) at Fiserv, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional onsite support for our systems engineers, architects, and supporting vendors. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure the tactical implementation of IT solutions in alignment with Fiserv's data center operations program standards. This position is crucial for maintaining the integrity and efficiency of our data center operations, and you will be expected to compose documentation and regular process updates based on feedback from management. In this role, you will physically rack and stack servers and network equipment according to layout diagrams and specifications. You will also be responsible for performing cable installations, which includes routing, terminating, and managing structured cabling systems. Your expertise will be essential in installing and maintaining data servers and network equipment, as well as supporting vendors and engineers during upgrades, including CPU, memory, and network cable installations. Additionally, you will perform routine production and non-production administration, monitoring, and troubleshooting of IT hardware, providing escalation level support to remote offices as needed. You will work with data center-specific trade tools and maintain detailed records of installations, configurations, and maintenance activities. To ensure a smooth transition into your regular shift, you will undergo training during the dayshift and overnight before settling into your regular hours, which will be from 1 PM to 11 PM, Sunday through Wednesday. This position requires a commitment to excellence and a proactive approach to problem-solving in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Physically rack and stack servers and network equipment according to layout diagrams and specifications.
  • Perform cable installations, including routing, terminating, and managing structured cabling systems.
  • Install and maintain data servers and network equipment.
  • Support vendors and engineers with upgrades, including CPUs, memory, and network cables.
  • Perform routine production and non-production administration, monitoring, and troubleshooting of IT hardware.
  • Provide escalation level support to remote offices.
  • Work with data center specific trade tools.
  • Maintain detailed records of installations, configurations, and maintenance activities.
  • Train on dayshift and overnights before moving to your regular shift.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience working in a 24x7-365 data center or relevant training.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Nice-to-haves

  • DCCA or other industry recognized data center certification.
  • Demonstrated administrative capacity to translate current and new business requirements into operational process.
  • Familiarity with ITIL V3 and change management principles.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office 365 (Excel, Teams, and SharePoint).
  • Associate's degree in computer networking or a similar field.
