About the position

The Data Center HVAC Technician II at Modine Manufacturing Company is responsible for ensuring the proper commissioning and operation of HVAC products, particularly in data center environments. This role involves troubleshooting, customer training, and maintaining compliance with EPA requirements, while also providing excellent customer service and support. The technician will work primarily in Northern Virginia but may travel across the US as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring products are commissioned and operate correctly as designed and attend IST testing as required.
  • Identify manufacturing or design defects on installed products, carry out remedial work, and offer recommendations to prevent re-occurrence.
  • Raise corrective action reports on defects.
  • Provide detailed typed reports, complete with photographic evidence, after each site visit in a timely manner.
  • Liaise with customers on site and ensure that equipment is handed over correctly with the appropriate documentation.
  • Carry out customer training on both new and existing products.
  • Keep personal equipment within the AIAC calibration programme.
  • Ensure EPA requirements are adhered to.
  • Stay updated with new product technology.
  • Work with Controls teams on hardware and software, assist with testing/proving software operation on site, and provide relevant feedback.
  • Act professionally towards customers to promote the company image at all times.
  • Follow health and safety policies and procedures at Airedale and customer sites.
  • Maintain an excellent attendance record.

Requirements

  • 3 to 5 years of product reliability or service experience required.
  • A two-year technical degree in HVAC or related discipline preferred (substantial technical experience may substitute for a degree).
  • EPA Type II Certification required (Universal EPA preferred).
  • Applicable HVAC license preferred.
  • Strong electrical experience with the ability to read detailed electrical schematics to diagnose faults accurately.
  • Strong mechanical experience with water/fridge systems.
  • Experience working within data centers/business critical environments.
  • Good communication and report writing skills.
  • Full driving license.
  • Computer literate with general skills in Microsoft Office.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of different compressor technologies (Screw, Scroll, Turbocor) would be an advantage.
  • Controls navigation knowledge (Carel/Trend).
  • Organized with a proactive positive personality and ability to self-manage.
  • Excellent customer service/facing skills.
  • Problem-solving skills.
