About the position

The Data Center HVAC Technician II at Modine Manufacturing Company is responsible for the repair and maintenance of refrigeration and air conditioning equipment, particularly Airedale systems, in various critical environments such as data centers and hospitals. This role requires a blend of mechanical, electrical, and refrigeration knowledge to ensure high standards of service and customer satisfaction. The technician will work closely with customers, manage project work, and maintain compliance with health and safety policies while promoting the company's image.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out all repair and maintenance work to Airedale and other manufacturers' refrigeration and air conditioning equipment to a high standard of accuracy.
  • Project work including on-site assembly of units delivered in modular formats, requiring mechanical, electrical, and refrigeration knowledge.
  • Work and liaise closely with customers to ensure satisfaction and service quality.
  • Submit paperwork in a prompt and efficient manner, including site reports and expenses.
  • Report day-to-day activity to the Service Team Leader to ensure availability and productivity.
  • Liaise with other Service Support Engineers to ensure works are completed on time.
  • Act in a professional manner towards customers to promote the company image at all times.
  • Follow health and safety policies and procedures at Airedale and customer sites.
  • Maintain an excellent attendance record.
  • Be able to work outside of normal office hours on a regular basis, including weekends.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3-5 years of product reliability or service experience required.
  • A two-year technical degree in HVAC or related discipline preferred, or substantial technical experience may substitute for a degree.
  • EPA Type II Certification required (Universal EPA preferred).
  • Applicable HVAC license preferred.
  • Strong electrical experience with the ability to read detailed electrical schematics to diagnose faults accurately.
  • A/C Refrigeration knowledge including measurement and understanding of superheats, sub-cooling, pressures, and temperatures.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of different compressor technologies such as Screw, Scroll, and Turbocor.
  • Experience with different refrigerants including R410A, R134a, R32, and R1234ze.
  • Controls navigation knowledge, specifically Carel.
  • Practical skills in mechanical assembly and brazing.
