About the position

The Data Center Infrastructure Engineer at Zones LLC will serve as the primary technical liaison between the service delivery team and customers, focusing on executing Data Center Transformation, Migration, and Managed services plans. The role involves ensuring the smooth implementation of the target state environment, including the functioning of Networks, Servers, and Storage, to meet customer performance and availability requirements. The ideal candidate will have a comprehensive understanding of the elements and dependencies impacting the transformation of a customer datacenter and will work within a Cisco Nexus and Dell Technologies environment.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary technical liaison between the service delivery team and the customer.
  • Execute on the Data Center Transformation/Migration/Managed services plan.
  • Ensure smooth implementation of the target state environment.
  • Understand business requirements and transform them into efficient solutions.
  • Evaluate and recommend infrastructure solutions to meet business needs.
  • Lead the Engineering team during implementation and managed services.
  • Develop implementation plans for infrastructure architecture based on IT strategies.
  • Create technical documentation including rack layout diagrams and port mapping.
  • Review Data Center infrastructure design documents and provide feedback.
  • Document existing equipment infrastructure including device details.
  • Ensure appropriate IT practices are in place.
  • Partner with other Engineers and provide oversight for cross-functional teams.
  • Act as an escalation point for technical issues during projects.
  • Perform site surveys in the Data Center for installation readiness.
  • Supervise on-site installation and testing of equipment in the Data Center.
  • Troubleshoot network issues related to configurations, switching, and routing.
  • Develop processes and templates for handover to Managed Services.
  • Participate in internal and customer-facing meetings, providing updates.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or Telecommunications.
  • 7+ years of experience in a similar role.
  • CCNA, CCNP, CCIE certifications required.
  • Excellent knowledge of Data Center design, installation, and integration.
  • Hands-on experience in Data Center requirements and readiness.
  • Good understanding of Data Center cabling standards.
  • Experience with cloud technologies and integration with Network elements.
  • Excellent communication skills and previous customer-facing experience.
  • Self-starter with the ability to navigate ambiguous situations.
  • Familiarity with formal change control procedures.
  • Technical knowledge of networking technologies including Cisco and Dell Technologies.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with F5 load balancers.
  • Knowledge of DNS/NTP/SMTP and SNMP protocols.
  • Integration experience between Network and Server/Storage/Backup Technologies.
  • Technical knowledge with Virtualization/Private Cloud (VMWare, RHEL).
