About the position
The Data Center Infrastructure Operations Network Engineer will be a key technical team member responsible for maintaining the platform's infrastructure, ensuring operational continuity for end users. This role involves automating system performance metrics, balancing hybrid cloud distributions, and collaborating within a diverse team in an Agile environment. The engineer will also be tasked with managing various network devices and systems, while fostering strong relationships with customers and technical staff.
Responsibilities
- Maintain technical infrastructure including VMware, Micro-Services, Networking, and Security Services.
- Automate, collect, process, and present system performance metrics.
- Balance hybrid cloud distribution between private and public clouds.
- Collaborate with a diverse team across multiple projects in an Agile environment.
- Implement, operate, and maintain physical switches, routers, IPS, and IDS devices.
- Manage VMware NSX based SDN and understand Kubernetes and micro-service applications.
- Review and revise processes for maintaining infrastructure configuration management.
- Author and maintain scripts in a managed Git repository.
- Analyze real-world problems and implement solutions according to guidelines and best practices.
- Document and present performance records and results.
- Proactively identify, locate, mitigate, and resolve network issues.
Requirements
- Experience with Linux system management, particularly Red Hat enterprise services.
- Ability to implement and maintain physical network devices and VMware NSX.
- Understanding of Kubernetes and micro-service based applications.
- Experience with scripting for automation and administration tasks.
- Ability to analyze and solve technical problems across integrated software and hardware platforms.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with Ansible or similar infrastructure automation tools.
- Knowledge of the DoD Risk Management Framework (RMF) and NIST guidelines.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) platforms such as Ansible and Terraform.
