About the position

The Data Center Inventory & Asset Technician (DIAT) at Microsoft's West Campus plays a crucial role in managing inventory and asset logistics within the data center environment. This position involves performing cycle audits, handling incoming and outgoing deliveries, coordinating with security for vendor access, and managing warranty claims and returns. The role is integral to supporting Microsoft's cloud services infrastructure and offers opportunities for professional development and training in inventory management and data handling processes.

Responsibilities

  • Perform cycle audits and document inbound and outbound deliveries as instructed by management.
  • Execute incoming and outgoing deliveries, including purchase order receiving and rack movement activities.
  • Coordinate security escorts for third-party vendors and escalate any security or safety incidents.
  • Engage in Task Hazard Analysis (THA) for every task and ensure sign-off for any related risks.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of inventory and deliveries, applying appropriate customs documentation for outbound packages.
  • Develop working knowledge of stock control and inventory management practices, performing data corrections as needed.
  • Initiate warranty claims and process returns for failed equipment, following Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
  • Perform destruction of data bearing devices (DBD) in compliance with Microsoft policies and SLAs.
  • Notify management about stock shortages and escalate any issues as necessary.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma AND 6 months experience or an internship in inventory management, retail, warehouse management, or a related field.
  • Ability to work 12-hour shifts, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and government security screening requirements.

Nice-to-haves

  • 2+ years of experience in warehouse/supply chain in an IT environment.
  • Experience operating heavy-load movement equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks.
