About the position

As a Microsoft Data Center Inventory & Asset Technician (DIAT), you will play a crucial role in managing inventory and asset processes within Microsoft's Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) team. This position involves performing cycle audits, coordinating deliveries, managing warranty claims, and ensuring compliance with security and data management policies. You will gain valuable experience in inventory management principles and contribute to the operational efficiency of Microsoft's extensive data center infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Perform cycle audits and execute incoming/outgoing deliveries.
• Coordinate security escorts for third-party vendors.
• Document inbound and outbound deliveries as instructed by management.
• Initiate warranty claims and process returns on failed equipment.
• Comply with security and data management policies, escalating incidents as necessary.
• Develop a working knowledge of stock control and inventory management practices.
• Help reconcile inventory discrepancies and maintain a strong customer focus.
• Ensure Inventory and Asset Management tasks are completed accurately as requested.
• Process failed vendor hardware devices and initiate warranty claims with suppliers.
• Destroy data-bearing devices as necessary and notify management about stock shortages.

Requirements

• High School Diploma AND 6 months experience or an internship in inventory management, retail, warehouse management, or a related field OR equivalent experience.
• Ability to work 12-hour shifts, including non-standard business hours such as evenings, nights, weekends, and/or holidays.
• Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements.

Nice-to-haves

• 1+ years' experience in warehouse/supply chain in an IT environment or logistics.
• Experience operating heavy-load movement equipment (e.g., forklift, pallet jacks, chassis lifts) for a large corporation.
