About the position

The Data Center IT Support Technician position at Peraton is essential for maintaining the optimal operation of data center facilities. This role involves providing advanced technical support, troubleshooting, and ensuring system stability to support critical missions in national security and public safety. The technician will work on-site at the Stennis Space Center, MS, and will be part of a dedicated team focused on delivering high-quality IT support.

Responsibilities

  • Provide advanced technical advice and guidance on installation and configuration of customer hardware assets in the data center.
  • Perform Tier III problem resolution via telephone with users, guiding them through troubleshooting steps.
  • Troubleshoot and modify products to meet customer requirements, providing expert technical support for complex systems.
  • Review system configurations to ensure successful implementation of IT system racks into production.
  • Maintain system stability through proactive maintenance and timely incident resolution.
  • Collaborate with developers and engineers to reduce recurring incidents and improve support processes.
  • Provide consultative assistance during off hours as needed and assist in developing continuous process improvements.
  • Communicate issues to appropriate internal personnel and determine the effectiveness of known solutions for reported problems.
  • Provide training to customers and maintain documentation of network paths and cabling diagrams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and 5 years of experience, or HS diploma/equivalent and 9 years of experience.
  • U.S. Citizenship required; ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance.
  • Experience working in a Data Center environment.
  • Experience running fiber optic and copper cabling.
  • Strong understanding of network protocols.
  • Experience with business continuity and disaster recovery.
  • Experience supporting both hardware and software tools within a Data Center.
  • Flexibility to cover a 24x7x365 work schedule.
