About the position

As a Data Center IT Technician at CBRE, you will play a crucial role in providing on-site support for Information and Communications Technology (ICT) and Engineering services within the Data Center environment. This position is part of the Critical and Technical Services job function, where you will be responsible for technical maintenance services in critical client environments. Your primary focus will be on ensuring that all IT equipment installations, relocations, and decommission requests are completed within specified timeframes and adhere to industry standards. In this role, you will be expected to provide problem-solving support, which includes tasks such as server reboots, backups, and visual inspections. You will also be responsible for escorting third-party engineers and ensuring their compliance with site standards. Additionally, you will receive, respond to, and assign break and fix tickets within the agreed timeframe, escalating issues that cannot be resolved promptly. It is essential to maintain accurate on-site documentation, including standard operating procedures, which should be created, reviewed, and updated whenever there is a change in instructions or processes. Your responsibilities will also include patching and de-patching requests, developing strong working relationships with all staff members and client representatives, and ensuring the provision and fault diagnosis of network channel connectivity. You will be involved in the installation, relocation, and decommissioning of IT equipment, as well as general engineering maintenance and housekeeping of critical services. Maintaining a safe and healthy working environment while upholding a professional image is paramount. You will follow existing procedures to solve straightforward problems and deliver your output by adhering to defined procedures and processes under close supervision and guidance.

Responsibilities

  • Receive, review, and complete IT equipment installation, relocation, and decommission requests within timeframes and to industry standards.
  • Provide problem-solving support, including server reboots, backups, and visual inspections.
  • Escort third-party engineers and ensure their compliance with site standards.
  • Receive, respond to, and assign break and fix tickets within the agreed timeframe or escalate if they cannot be resolved.
  • Ensure that on-site documentation, including work-related standard operating procedures, are created, reviewed, and updated whenever there is an instruction or process change.

Requirements

  • Training in a Technical discipline having served an apprenticeship or equivalent with 1-2 years of job-related experience.
  • In lieu of a diploma, a combination of experience and education will be considered.
  • Must meet the physical requirements of this role.
  • Ability to follow basic work routines and standards in the application of work.
  • Communication skills to exchange straightforward information.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Strong organizational skills with an inquisitive mindset.
  • Basic math skills, including the ability to calculate simple figures such as percentages, discounts, and markups.
