About the position

The M&E Technician at JLL is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of building systems and equipment, troubleshooting issues, and performing hands-on maintenance. This role is crucial in supporting the critical environment of data centers and ensuring compliance with safety regulations and company policies.

Responsibilities

  • Operate building systems safely and efficiently according to regulations and procedures.
  • Perform installation, maintenance, repair, and operation of mechanical, electrical, and power generation equipment.
  • Quickly learn building controls, electrical, and UPS systems through on-the-job training.
  • Conduct predictive, planned, preventative, and routine maintenance as well as equipment rounds and service requests.
  • Assist in developing and improving preventative maintenance programs and operational procedures.
  • Inspect and repair pumps, fans, valves, and motors to ensure proper operation.
  • Perform visual and operational inspections of equipment and interpret specifications and blueprints.
  • Analyze and resolve work problems to achieve work goals.
  • Maintain time and production records and customer service requests.
  • Monitor and maintain refrigeration, water cooling, air conditioning equipment, and other mechanical systems.
  • Complete tenant service requests accurately and expediently.
  • Comply with policies for safe storage and disposal of hazardous materials.
  • Act as the on-call engineer as requested and participate in emergency response procedures.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of hands-on experience in a data center/critical facility, including UPS Systems and mechanical cooling systems.
  • State and local licensures as required.
  • Certification as a Universal Technician for CFC's (or within 90 days of employment).
  • Knowledgeable in the safe use of tools such as ladders, lifts, and basic hand tools.

Nice-to-haves

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Training and certification from an accredited trade school or Union apprentice program in HVAC, electronics, or electrical.
  • Working knowledge of computer applications including Word and Excel, and business applications like CMMS.
