About the position

The Data Center M&E Technician plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of mechanical and electrical systems within a data center environment. This position involves applying advanced skills to perform preventative maintenance and corrective repairs on various systems, including Universal Power Supply (UPS) systems, generators, chillers, Electrical Distribution, HVAC systems, and Building Management Systems (BMS). The technician will be responsible for conducting daily site inspections of all Mechanical & Engineering (M&E) systems and technical equipment, ensuring that all maintenance and servicing tasks are completed according to established processes and procedures. This includes adhering to the company's Environment, Health and Safety Policy, ensuring compliance with all safety processes and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements, and meeting all regulatory requirements and quality standards. In addition to maintenance tasks, the technician will coordinate with third-party vendors to ensure compliance with CBRE's developed processes and applicable laws and regulations. This may involve accompanying vendors on site visits and ensuring that site standards are met. The technician will also monitor the Building Management Systems (BMS) and Electric Plant Monitoring Systems (EPMS) alarms to ensure that operational parameters are within allowable limits and will perform incident response as necessary. Furthermore, the technician will assist in building and developing work processes, Job Hazard Analysis reports, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for critical work, including risk assessments. It is essential for the technician to ensure that Critical Environment Risk Management (CERM) documents and logbooks are kept up to date, contributing to the overall safety and efficiency of the data center operations.

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily site inspections of all Mechanical & Engineering (M&E) systems and technical equipment, including servicing and maintenance.
  • Complete assigned work according to established processes and procedures in accordance with the company's Environment, Health and Safety Policy.
  • Ensure all safety processes and PPE requirements are followed.
  • Coordinate third-party vendors, ensuring compliance with CBRE's developed processes, procedures, and all applicable laws/regulations.
  • Accompany vendors on site visits as needed and ensure site standards are met.
  • Monitor the Building Management Systems (BMS) and Electric Plant Monitoring Systems (EPMS) alarms to ensure parameters are within allowable operating bands.
  • Perform incident response when needed.
  • Help build and develop work processes, Job Hazard Analysis reports, and SOPs for critical work with risk assessment.
  • Ensure that Critical Environment Risk Management (CERM) documents and logbooks are updated.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED required.
  • 2-4 years of experience in mechanical or electrical engineering, preferred.
  • Knowledge of emergency response/standby/call out activities and protocols.
  • Strong background in either HVAC or Electrical, preferred.
