About the position

The Data Center M&E Technician role is a critical position that requires advanced skills in performing preventative maintenance and corrective repairs within a Data Center operation. This position involves oversight of various electrical and mechanical systems, including Universal Power Supply (UPS) systems, generators, chillers, Electrical Distribution, HVAC systems, Building Management Systems (BMS), and CMMS Work Dispatching. The technician will be responsible for ensuring that all systems operate efficiently and effectively, contributing to the overall reliability of the data center environment. In this role, the technician will conduct daily site inspections of all Mechanical & Engineering (M&E) systems and technical equipment. This includes servicing and maintenance tasks that are essential for the smooth operation of the data center. The technician will work under close supervision to complete assigned work according to established processes and procedures, adhering to the Environment, Health and Safety Policy. It is crucial that all safety processes and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements are followed to maintain a safe working environment. The technician will also oversee third-party vendors, ensuring that they comply with CBRE's developed processes, procedures, and all applicable laws and regulations. This may involve accompanying vendors on-site visits as needed and ensuring that site standards are met. Additionally, the technician will assist in creating and developing work processes, Job Hazard Analysis reports, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for critical work, including risk assessments. Keeping documents and logbooks updated is also a key responsibility, along with completing all required training to ensure successful job performance.

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily site inspections of all Mechanical & Engineering (M&E) systems and technical equipment, including servicing and maintenance.
  • Complete assigned work according to established processes and procedures in accordance with Environment, Health and Safety Policy.
  • Ensure all safety processes and PPE requirements are followed.
  • Oversee third-party vendors, ensuring compliance with CBRE's developed processes, procedures, and all applicable laws/regulations.
  • Accompany vendors on-site visits on an as-needed basis, and ensure site standards are met.
  • Help create and develop work processes, Job Hazard Analysis reports, and SOPs for critical work with risk assessment.
  • Ensure that documents and logbooks are updated.
  • Complete all required training in order to ensure successful completion of all job-related responsibilities.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED required.
  • 2-4 years of experience in mechanical or electrical engineering, preferred.
  • Mechanical and electrical experience in a data center environment is essential.
  • Knowledge of emergency response/standby/call-out activities and protocols is required.
  • Strong background in either HVAC or Electrical is preferred.
