About the position

As a CBRE Data Center Technician, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of data center facilities. This position involves performing preventative maintenance and corrective repairs within a Data Center operation, which is part of the Critical and Technical Services job function. You will be responsible for technical maintenance services in critical client environments, ensuring that all systems are functioning optimally and safely. Your daily tasks will include assisting with site inspections of all Mechanical & Engineering systems and technical equipment, ensuring that the environmental conditions of the site provide a safe work environment. You will react to Building Management System alarms and complete emergency repairs as needed, working closely with third-party vendors to ensure compliance with company-developed processes, procedures, and all applicable laws and regulations. It is essential to alert management if subcontractor performance does not meet the requirements outlined in the Master Service Agreement. In addition to planned preventative maintenance (PM) and reactive maintenance on all equipment, you will check the Building Management System (BMS) for running and alarm conditions and respond to HVAC-related client problems. Conducting building walkthroughs, taking meter readings from UPS, PDUs, and utilities will also be part of your responsibilities. You will provide fixes to facility and plant faults and defects, ensuring that all assigned work is completed according to established processes and procedures. Following all safety processes and requirements is critical, as is ensuring that all regulatory requirements and quality standards are met. You will conduct routine quality checks for comprehensive maintenance records and complete all required training to ensure successful completion of all job-related responsibilities. Your role will involve using existing procedures to solve straightforward problems while working under close supervision and guidance, delivering your output by following defined procedures and processes.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Training in a Technical discipline having served an apprenticeship or equivalent with 1-2 years of job-related experience.
  • Ability to work shifts that may include weekends and holidays.
  • Must be able to meet the physical requirements of this role.
  • Ability to effectively present information to an internal department, client, management and/or colleagues.
  • Ability to follow basic work routines and standards in the application of work.
  • Communication skills to exchange straightforward information.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
  • Strong organizational skills with an inquisitive mindset.
  • Basic math skills, including the ability to calculate simple figures such as percentages, discounts, and markups.
