About the position

As a CBRE Data Center Technician, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the operational integrity of our Data Center facilities. This position involves performing preventative maintenance and corrective repairs within a Data Center operation, ensuring that all mechanical and engineering systems are functioning optimally. You will be part of the Critical and Technical Services job function, which is responsible for delivering technical maintenance services in critical client environments. Your work will directly impact the safety and efficiency of the Data Center operations, making it essential to adhere to established processes and procedures. In this role, you will assist with daily site inspections of all Mechanical & Engineering systems and technical equipment. This includes servicing and maintenance tasks that ensure the site's environmental conditions provide a safe work environment. You will be responsible for reacting to Building Management System (BMS) alarms and completing emergency repairs as needed. Collaboration with third-party vendors will be a key aspect of your job, ensuring compliance with company-developed processes, procedures, and all applicable laws and regulations. You will also need to alert management if subcontractor performance does not meet the requirements outlined in the Master Service Agreement. Your responsibilities will include completing planned preventative maintenance (PM) and reactive maintenance on all equipment, checking BMS for running and alarm conditions, and responding to HVAC-related client problems. You will conduct building walkthroughs, take meter readings from UPS, PDUs, and utilities, and provide fixes to facility and plant faults and defects. It is essential to complete all assigned work according to established processes and procedures while following all safety processes and requirements. You will also conduct routine quality checks to maintain comprehensive maintenance records and complete all required training to ensure successful job performance. Your role will involve using existing procedures to solve straightforward problems, with limited opportunities to exercise discretion, and delivering your output by following defined procedures and processes under close supervision and guidance.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with daily site inspections of all Mechanical & Engineering systems and technical equipment, including servicing and maintenance.
  • Ensure the site's environmental conditions provide a safe work environment.
  • React to Building Management System alarms, and complete emergency repairs as needed.
  • Work with third-party vendors, ensuring compliance with company-developed processes, procedures, and all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Alert management if subcontractor performance doesn't meet all requirements per the Master Service Agreement.

Requirements

  • Training in a Technical discipline having served an apprenticeship or equivalent with 1-2 years of job-related experience.
  • Ability to work shifts that may include weekends and holidays.
  • Must be able to meet the physical requirements of this role.
  • Ability to effectively present information to an internal department, client, management and/or colleagues.
  • Ability to follow basic work routines and standards in the application of work.
  • Communication skills to exchange straightforward information.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
  • Strong organizational skills with an inquisitive mindset.
  • Basic math skills, including the ability to calculate simple figures such as percentages, discounts, and markups.
