About the position

As a CBRE Data Center Technician, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our Data Center facilities. This position is part of the Critical and Technical Services job function, where you will be responsible for performing preventative maintenance and corrective repairs within a Data Center operation. Your primary focus will be on technical maintenance services in critical client environments, ensuring that all systems are functioning optimally and safely. You will assist with daily site inspections of all Mechanical & Engineering systems and technical equipment, which includes servicing and maintenance tasks. It is essential to maintain the site's environmental conditions to provide a safe work environment for all personnel. In this role, you will react to Building Management System (BMS) alarms and complete emergency repairs as needed. You will collaborate with third-party vendors to ensure compliance with company-developed processes, procedures, and all applicable laws and regulations. If you notice that subcontractor performance does not meet the requirements outlined in the Master Service Agreement, it is your responsibility to alert management. You will also be tasked with completing planned preventative maintenance (PM) and reactive maintenance on all equipment, checking BMS for running and alarm conditions, and responding to HVAC-related client problems. Conducting building walkthroughs and taking meter readings from UPS, PDUs, and utilities will be part of your daily activities. Your role will also involve providing fixes to facility and plant faults and defects, completing assigned work according to established processes and procedures, and following all safety processes and requirements to ensure that all regulatory requirements and quality standards are met. You will conduct routine quality checks for comprehensive maintenance records and complete all required training to ensure successful completion of all job-related responsibilities. You will be expected to use existing procedures to solve straightforward problems while having limited opportunities to exercise discretion. Your impact will be defined through clearly outlined duties, methods, and tasks, and you will deliver your output by following defined procedures and processes under close supervision and guidance.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Training in a Technical discipline having served an apprenticeship or equivalent with 1-2 years of job-related experience.
  • Experience in mechanical or building trades such as electrical, plumbing, high-voltage, automotive, fire-life-safety, HVAC-R, hydraulics, general/industrial building maintenance, etc. is preferred.
  • Ability to work shifts that may include weekends and holidays.
  • Must be able to meet the physical requirements of this role.
  • Ability to effectively present information to an internal department, client, management, and/or colleagues.
  • Ability to follow basic work routines and standards in the application of work.
  • Communication skills to exchange straightforward information.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
  • Strong organizational skills with an inquisitive mindset.
  • Basic math skills, including the ability to calculate simple figures such as percentages, discounts, and markups.
