About the position

The Data Center Manager at Oracle is responsible for leading and managing teams that support the operations of multiple cloud data centers in the greater Chicago area. This role involves overseeing day-to-day logistical and rack processing needs, ensuring operational excellence, and driving team performance in a 24/7 mission-critical environment. The successful candidate will have a strong background in IT service delivery, people management, and business acumen, with a focus on building and supporting cloud infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a team responsible for day-to-day logistical and rack processing needs across multiple Oracle Cloud Data Centers.
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of all Data Center sites in a 24/7 environment.
  • Ensure timely delivery of services/tasks to meet project milestones.
  • Work with project managers to provide on-the-ground advice and support.
  • Uphold quality benchmarks for new sites and deployments, acting as the gatekeeper.
  • Drive delivery of improvements and provide feedback in project reviews.
  • Interact across functional areas and teams, including Engineering and Business Operations.
  • Manage incidents and drive resolution with After-Action analysis.
  • Oversee capacity expansions, including rack additions and new sites.
  • Recruit and hire high-quality team members with a passion for excellence.
  • Foster a culture of continual improvement and learning within the team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (BA/BS preferred).
  • Strong people management experience in a technical environment.
  • Detailed knowledge of computer hardware (Server, Storage, Networking devices).
  • Experience managing diverse teams in a cloud data center space.
  • Ability to navigate local customs, laws, and employment directives.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Oracle technology and cloud infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with local vendors and negotiation skills.
  • Experience in talent management and performance reviews.
