About the position

Nesco Resource is seeking a full-time Mechanical Engineer who will be based out of Arizona, Texas, Ohio, Northern Virginia, or Colorado. This role is integral to the IT Service Delivery branch and will report directly to the Senior Vice President. The Mechanical Engineer will participate in all aspects of mechanical design and engineering, which includes the development of the basis of design, scope of work, implementation processes, and commissioning plans. The engineer will support the maintenance of all Denver mechanical systems to ensure 100% system availability, lead, review, and approve designs for data center upgrades that improve availability and efficiency, as well as capacity increases and monitoring. The role also involves updating and maintaining as-built master records, which includes transferring project drawings over to the master files. The engineer will compare existing piping and HVAC systems against drawings and resolve discrepancies. Additionally, the engineer will develop and manage processes and programs to ensure the health and efficiencies of mechanical systems within the data center. This includes developing or reviewing maintenance procedures for all mechanical systems, including detailed scripts for annual maintenance and projects. The Mechanical Engineer will support operational teams in problem resolutions, conduct Root Cause Analysis, and participate in design and process reviews. Immediate technical support will be provided to operation teams during critical events, and the engineer will administer all aspects of the mechanical service agreements to ensure compliance. Maintaining all HVAC and mechanical drawings and process documentation for the Denver facility is also a key responsibility, along with managing energy efficiency and being responsible for increasing efficiencies and maintaining reliability of all mechanical systems. The engineer will estimate time and materials needed to complete repairs and new projects.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in all aspects of mechanical design and engineering including development of basis of design, scope of work, implementation processes and commissioning plans
  • Support maintenance of all Denver mechanical systems to ensure 100% system availability
  • Lead, review, and approve designs for data center upgrades which improve availability and efficiency, in addition to capacity increases and monitoring

  • Manages Energy efficiency
  • Responsible for increasing efficiencies and maintaining reliability of all mechanical systems

Requirements

  • Minimum 7 years in data center mechanical design, commissioning and critical system support
  • Experience in Data Center design, construction and commissioning including water cooled chiller plants, complex mechanical distribution systems, raised floor cooling system, automation and control systems
  • Experience reading, interpreting, and creating construction drawings, specifications, and submittal documents
  • Understanding of data center mechanical operations procedures, topologies (N 1, 2N, N 20%, etc.), equipment, piping systems, cooling towers etc.
  • Ability to refine mechanical system designs for availability, quality control, constructability, and cost efficiencies
  • Understanding of both HVAC and mechanical equipment and system design
  • Effective oral and written communication skills, with top tier analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Organized, detailed and successful at setting priorities and meeting deadlines and budget
  • Comprehensive use of AutoCAD, Visio and Office software packages
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience

  • Project Manager experience is a plus
