About the position

The Data Center Network Deploy Technician plays a crucial role in the Infrastructure Delivery team at Amazon Data Services, Inc. This position involves managing and supporting AWS's vast network infrastructure, ensuring stability and sustainability while driving innovative automation solutions. The technician will work in a dynamic environment with minimal supervision, collaborating with various stakeholders to troubleshoot and resolve networking issues, and participate in the rollout of new hardware. The role requires a strong understanding of network cabling, configuration, and troubleshooting in a fast-paced, collaborative setting.

Responsibilities

  • Manage work and priorities through ticketing system and workflows to complete customer requests and projects.
  • Collaborate with various stakeholders to remove project obstacles.
  • Troubleshoot networking, routing, and interconnectivity issues, including network device configuration and low-level application interaction.
  • Troubleshoot cabling infrastructure connectivity issues, including patch panels and patch cords.
  • Specify power and cooling requirements and ensure hardware racking/stacking is completed for new equipment.
  • Participate in the migration, basic configuration, and rollout of new or upgraded hardware.
  • Move and lift computer equipment up to 40 lbs.

Requirements

  • Technical Diploma in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field; or Certifications in a relevant field (CCENT, Network+, CCNA).
  • 2+ years in data center or critical environment.
  • 2+ years of experience with network cabling, optic types, and test equipment (VFL, power meter, and OTDR, etc.).
  • Experience with AWS Infrastructure Services (AIS).
  • Experience supporting large scale, enterprise class networks.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with cabling infrastructure best practices and methodologies.
  • Knowledge of major Command Line Protocols (Cisco IOS, JunOS, etc.).
  • Experience with ethernet and IP networking.
  • Experience in large scale data center network implementations and support.
  • Experience working in virtualized enterprise networking environments.
