About the position

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a Data Center Operations Technician to join our expanding Infrastructure Operations team in Singapore. In this role, you will be part of a diverse team responsible for the design, planning, delivery, and operation of AWS global infrastructure. Your primary focus will be on the on-site management of the hardware lifecycle of our IT infrastructure, which includes server rack installation, hardware troubleshooting, and maintenance of data center equipment. You will work closely with a team of engineers, supply chain specialists, and operations managers to ensure the highest standards of safety and security while maintaining operational stability in our data centers. As a Data Center Operations Technician, you will be responsible for responding to emergent situations that affect operational stability, managing trouble tickets, and performing on-call duties. You will also participate in scheduled maintenance and change management activities, contributing to documentation on technical issues and process improvement initiatives. Your role will require you to follow policies and procedures related to safety and security, and you will be expected to maintain tidiness in operation areas. This position involves covering a 24x7 shift rotation, ensuring that our data center infrastructure is always operational and efficient. You will have the opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment where you can showcase your troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Responsibilities

  • Manage the hardware lifecycle of IT infrastructure on-site.
  • Perform server rack installation and hardware break-fix on various components.
  • Troubleshoot network issues and respond to emergent situations affecting operational stability.
  • Work against assigned trouble tickets via a directed workflow.
  • Participate in Data Center operations, handling scheduled maintenance and change management activities.
  • Contribute to documentation on technical issues through root cause analysis.
  • Assist in training less experienced team members as needed.
  • Maintain tidiness in operation areas and support DC infrastructure equipment.

Requirements

  • Computer/Server hardware troubleshooting experience required.
  • Experience in computer networking including Fiber troubleshooting and theory.
  • Minimum of 2+ years experience in a relevant field.

Nice-to-haves

  • LINUX Operating System knowledge or certifications.
  • Hardware or Networking certifications.
  • Knowledge in cloud computing environments.
  • Understanding of IT service management and Data Center environment safety and security.
