About the position

The Manager, Data Center Operations is responsible for overseeing all Uniti Fiber on-net owned Points of Presence (POPs), data centers, and regeneration facilities. This role involves managing the facilities where Uniti Fiber has established a presence, ensuring that operations run smoothly and efficiently. The manager will plan, design, and construct new POP and colocation data center facilities, or augment existing ones to meet the needs of various departments including Sales, Engineering, and Operations. This includes working with both internal teams and third-party resources to ensure that facilities are designed and operated to maximize uptime while minimizing costs. In addition to facility management, the role includes hiring, developing, and supervising the Data Center Operations team, which consists of site technicians, contractors, and vendors. The manager will be responsible for identifying and managing relationships with HVAC, electrical, and telecom vendors, ensuring that their work meets company standards and is cost-effective. Financial management is also a key component of this position, as the manager will forecast, track, and budget expenses related to POP construction, maintenance, and utilities, preparing detailed reports as needed. The manager will also ensure that all company-owned equipment is tracked and maintained, including consumables, panels, racks, tools, HVAC components, power plants, batteries, and vehicles. They will verify employee time sheets and ensure that all employees are trained on safety protocols. This position requires a strong focus on operational excellence and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Manage all on-Net Uniti owned POPs, data centers, and regen facilities.
• Plan, design, and construct new POP and/or colocation data center facilities.
• Augment existing facilities with additional space, power, or telecom facilities as required.
• Design and operate facilities to maximize uptime while minimizing costs.
• Hire, develop, and supervise the Data Center Operations team, including site technicians, contractors, and vendors.
• Identify, contract, discipline, and supervise HVAC, electrical, and telecom vendors.
• Forecast, track, and budget monthly, quarterly, and annual expenses for POP construction and maintenance.
• Prepare and present detailed and accurate reports on expenses as requested.
• Ensure tracking and maintenance of company-owned equipment.
• Verify and manage employee time sheets, vacation, and overtime.
• Ensure all Uniti Critical Facilities sites are correctly represented in Salesforce.com CRM software.
• Ensure all employees are competent in their duties and trained on safety protocols.

Requirements

• BS degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Telecommunications, or equivalent experience.
• Enterprise-level experience in managing large-scale and complex projects/programs.
• Working knowledge of audit and compliance requirements in a large enterprise.
• Financial management experience and good business acumen.
• Strong problem-solving skills, analytical capabilities, and attention to detail.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, etc.).
• Ability to multi-task and project manage many tasks simultaneously.
