The Operations Technician 2 (O) at Centersquare is a pivotal role responsible for delivering exceptional 24x7 data center support to both internal and external customers. This position requires a strong technical background and operational excellence, as the technician will be engaged in various tasks including installations, troubleshooting, monitoring, and documentation. The role is critical in ensuring the smooth operation of data center services, which cater to a diverse clientele including leading enterprises and U.S. federal government agencies. In this position, the technician will work directly with colocation customers to isolate and troubleshoot issues as they arise. Responsibilities include the installation and troubleshooting of copper and fiber cross connects, as well as running bundles of cables throughout the data center. The technician will perform Layer 1 cable testing, which encompasses light testing, continuity checks, and DB Loss Level assessments. Additionally, the role involves terminating and testing cabling using various connectors such as LC/SC and RJ45, ensuring that all work is thoroughly documented within a ticketing system to support customer requests and installation tasks. The technician will also manage incoming and outgoing customer tape backups and offsite transfers, assume a monitoring role for all critical systems using the Building Monitoring System, and provide visibility and support to the Facilities Team. Adherence to global policies and procedures is essential, as is the ability to effectively escalate events to the appropriate teams in a timely manner. The role may also involve physical tasks such as racking and stacking equipment, dressing cabling, and labeling, which may require the use of ladders and various hand tools. The technician's work shift may vary based on site coverage requirements, including nights, weekends, and holidays, and may require on-call and overtime work depending on workload demands. Physical demands include lifting hardware equipment up to and in excess of 50 pounds, as well as standing, bending, and kneeling as necessary to perform job functions. The technician will also be responsible for maintaining physical security, monitoring access to the data center, and ensuring the cleanliness and appearance of the raised floor.
