Job Description: The Data Center Operations Technician III is a 24x7x365, market-based position responsible for providing physical and Level III technical support to Flexential customers and resources as well as technical leadership to the TAC employee base in both facilities and system administration duties. A solidified understanding of Facilities infrastructure, Windows operating systems, PC Troubleshooting and Management Applications. Data Center Operations Technician III must be able to demonstrate the ability to represent Flexential both professionally and technically during interactions with customers and internal resources in a calm and professional manner Key Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions: Customer Support Deliver proactive updates to customers and teammates as necessary Enforce Flexential Support processes and procedures Incident triage and escalation Provides and tracks carrier access for circuit installations Performs remote hands work for internal and external customers Flexibility to support 24 / 7 operations with ability to work any shift in a 24x7x365 environment Performs data entry tasks for ongoing infrastructure changes, customer installations and facility reporting Technical Leadership Acts as Project Lead for provisioning tasks, site upkeep projects, and any other staff involved projects at the data center Trains TAA staff on data center job duties, site certification and customer service handling. Ensures adherence to Flexential Policy and Procedure by performing QA work on support tickets and coach staff as needed Oversee provisioning workflow tasks into the market and assign to team member accordingly Maintain TAC Schedule Maintain TAC Resource Assignment with TACS/TACM Develop training plan for TAC personnel with TACS/TACM Facility Operations Manage and enforce datacenter shipment and storage policies Operate and Manage Badge Access Security System Immediately report facilities alarms to the local Facilities Operations Engineer Responsible for initiating escalations for customer impacting/potentially impacting infrastructure/redundancy loss events Complete End of Shift Reporting Stay abreast of new facilities-related information and training updates Run Monthly Generator Test Procedure Works with local mgmt. to maintain cabling and general usage item inventory levels Assist Critical Infrastructure Manager (CIM) with scheduled maintenance tasks. Responsible for Safety Coordinator duties by performing regular site inspections, participating in coordinator meetings, and ensuring OSHA specifications are maintained System Administrator Operations Perform Software Installations and upgrades Intermediate Troubleshooting within Microsoft operating systems and data switch/firewall operating systems Execute routine maintenance procedures (Customer reports, System Updates, Backup Services) Level II backup remediation for market customers Assist TACM with SDA data collection and analysis Take ownership of technical issues, and working with customer, partners, and internal departments to resolve problems Document troubleshooting and problem resolution steps Maintain a working level of proficiency with all Flexential products & services Provides onsite support for Flexential hardware and systems as instructed by partner teams Perform other duties as required and assigned Required Qualifications: Experience in a 24/7 production environment Excellent troubleshooting skills Strong understanding of Windows and Microsoft Operating systems Must be a self-starter and motivated Prefer A.S. degree in Computer Science, MIS, CIS, a related field, or equivalent experience 3 years’ experience with building management systems, UPS, generators, HVACs, PDUs, chillers and cooling towers. Excellent verbal and written communications skills. Strong attention to detail, making and keeping commitments and meeting deadlines. Working understanding of AC and DC power Experience with data communications and telephony Should be familiar with cable color coding and at a minimum 568A and B pin-outs. Strong understanding of Commvault platform and backup job troubleshooting Familiarity with ITIL Incident Response methodology and/or ITIL Foundations certification Minimum 3 years of experience working within an IT Support environment Preferred Qualifications: AA, BS, or High School Diploma and actively pursuing and advanced degree in the technology field preferred Network +, Security + and / or CCNA desired Microsoft MCP or MCSA preferred Physical Requirements: Ability to climb stairs/ladders and work aloft Ability to work in adverse weather conditions Ability to maneuver pallet jacks and lift heavy objects up to 50 lbs. Ability to pull and install cabling overhead and/or underneath raised floors Base Pay Range: Annualized hourly range offered for this position is estimated to be $27.83- $34.79, however, the actual pay range depends on each candidate’s experience, location, and qualifications.
