About the position

The Data Center Technician role at AWS Infrastructure Services involves troubleshooting and resolving various data center infrastructure issues, including hardware, fiber, and networking problems. Technicians will engage in physical activities related to data center operations, ensuring the smooth functioning of one of the world's largest information system infrastructures. The position requires collaboration with a diverse team and a commitment to maintaining high safety and security standards while providing efficient service to customers.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and resolve data center infrastructure issues including hardware, fiber, and networking problems.
  • Engage in physical data center activities such as planning and tracking capacity, rack deployment, and cabling.
  • Lift and move materials up to 40 pounds each.
  • Work in cramped and/or elevated locations and stand or walk for up to 8+ hours a day.
  • Ascend and descend ladders, stairs, and gangways safely.
  • Maintain service level agreements through proactive issue detection and reporting.
  • Work shifts longer than 8 hours to support 24/7 operations, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in IT-related field or equivalent professional or military experience.
  • 2+ years of experience with server hardware.
  • 1+ years of experience with UNIX/Linux operating systems.

Nice-to-haves

  • Hands-on experience with hardware platforms such as Dell or HP.
  • Networking experience with CCNA and/or Network+ certifications.
  • Previous experience working in a Data Center environment, including racking & stacking gear and cable management.
