About The Position

The Data Center Technician role at AWS Infrastructure Services involves troubleshooting and resolving a variety of data center infrastructure issues, including hardware, fiber, and networking problems. Technicians will engage in physical activities related to data center operations, ensuring the reliability and efficiency of AWS's global infrastructure. This position requires collaboration with a diverse team and a commitment to maintaining high safety and security standards while providing exceptional service to customers.

Requirements

• Associate's degree in IT-related field or equivalent professional or military experience.
• 2+ years of experience with server hardware.
• 1+ years of experience with UNIX/Linux operating systems.

Nice To Haves

• Hands-on experience with hardware platforms such as Dell or HP.
• Networking experience with CCNA and/or Network+ certifications.
• Previous experience working in a Data Center environment, including racking & stacking gear and cable management.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and resolve data center infrastructure issues including hardware, fiber, and networking problems.
• Engage in physical data center activities such as planning and tracking capacity, rack deployment, and cabling.
• Perform hardware and software troubleshooting and rack decommissioning tasks.
• Lift and move materials up to 40 pounds each and work in cramped or elevated locations.
• Stand and walk for up to 8+ hours a day, and ascend/descend ladders and stairs safely.
• Work shifts longer than 8 hours to support 24/7 operations, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Maintain service level agreements through proactive issue detection and reporting.
• Drive resolution of technical issues by collaborating with other teams when necessary.
