About the position

The Data Center Operations Technician role at Amazon Data Services involves maintaining and troubleshooting AWS data center infrastructure. Technicians are responsible for resolving hardware, networking, and related issues while ensuring the highest standards of safety and security. This position requires physical engagement in data center activities and offers an inclusive culture that values diverse experiences and ideas.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and resolve a range of data center infrastructure issues including hardware, fiber, and networking problems.
• Engage in physical data center activities such as planning and tracking capacity, rack deployment, and cabling.
• Lift and move materials up to 40 pounds each.
• Work in cramped and/or elevated locations and in a noisy environment.
• Stand and walk for up to 8+ hours a day, and ascend/descend ladders and stairs safely.
• Maintain service level agreements through proactive issue detection and reporting.
• Work shifts longer than 8 hours to support 24/7 operations, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Requirements

• Associate's degree in IT-related field or equivalent professional or military experience.
• 2+ years of experience with server hardware.
• 1+ years of experience with UNIX/Linux operating systems.

Nice-to-haves

• Hands-on experience with hardware platforms such as Dell or HP.
• Networking experience with CCNA and/or Network+ certifications.
• Previous experience working in a Data Center environment, including racking & stacking gear and cable management.
