About the position

The Data Center Operator at Chirisa Technology Parks is responsible for ensuring the continuous operation and maintenance of critical building systems within the data center. This role involves monitoring various mechanical and electrical systems to maintain 100% uptime, performing preventive maintenance, and managing incidents that may affect critical systems. The position requires hands-on experience in a data center environment and a commitment to safety and compliance with operational procedures.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, monitor, and perform preventive maintenance on all building systems to ensure 100% uptime.
• Analyze the operation of various systems and take corrective action as required.
• Comply with departmental policy for the safe storage, usage, and disposal of hazardous materials.
• Maintain a clean and safe workplace.
• Understand and comply with emergency escalation procedures.
• Learn and understand the data center site to manage incidents and events that risk critical systems.
• Manage work orders, including CMMS, Vendor Management, and Customer Facing Tickets.
• Coordinate and implement equipment repairs with outside vendors, providing necessary documentation.
• Perform additional job duties as required.

Requirements

• Hands-on experience working in a data center/critical facility environment.
• Ability to read and understand electrical one-line drawings.
• Familiarity with electrical UPS systems, emergency generators, and switchgear.
• High School diploma or GED equivalent.
• 2+ years related work experience.
• Working knowledge of computer applications including MS Office Suite.
• Strong verbal/written communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

• Trained in NFPA70E.
• Experience in MOPs/SOPs/EOPs (authoring, vetting, revising).
• Knowledge of Change Management.
• CPR certification.
