About the position

The Data Center Ops Technician role at Amazon Web Services (AWS) involves supporting the operation and maintenance of AWS data centers. The technician will ensure the availability and reliability of data center operations, participate in incident response, and collaborate with various teams to resolve technical issues. This position requires a commitment to working in a fast-paced environment that operates 24/7, including participation in a primary responder rotation.

Responsibilities

• Perform server rack installations and hardware break-fix on various components.
• Troubleshoot network issues and respond to operational incidents that impact service availability.
• Serve as a primary contact point for internal and external stakeholders, including engineers and vendors.
• Perform on-call duties and participate in scheduled maintenance and change management activities.
• Contribute to documentation and process improvement initiatives based on analysis of operational issues.
• Help train and onboard new team members.

Requirements

• 1+ years of relevant experience in data center operations, IT support, or a similar technical field.
• 1+ years of troubleshooting skills and ability to resolve undefined technical problems.
• Willingness to participate in a primary responder rotation and support 24/7 data center operations.

Nice-to-haves

• An Associate's degree, technical certification, or equivalent professional or military experience in a relevant field.
• Experience working in a Data Center environment.
• Understanding of network design, protocols and troubleshooting.
• Experience managing work and priorities through a ticketing system.
• Understanding of in-depth hardware knowledge (e.g., PCIe).
