About the position

The Data Center Ops Technician role at Amazon Web Services (AWS) involves supporting the operations of data centers to ensure high availability and reliability of services. The technician will participate in a primary responder rotation, monitor infrastructure, and coordinate responses to operational incidents. This position requires collaboration with various teams and a commitment to maintaining service levels while working in a fast-paced, 24/7 environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform server rack installations and hardware break-fix on various components.
  • Troubleshoot network issues and respond to operational incidents that impact service availability.
  • Serve as a primary contact point for both internal and external stakeholders, including engineers and vendors.
  • Perform on-call duties and participate in scheduled maintenance and change management activities.
  • Contribute to documentation and process improvement initiatives based on analysis of operational issues.
  • Help train and onboard new team members.

Requirements

  • 1+ years of relevant experience in data center operations, IT support, or a similar technical field.
  • 1+ years of troubleshooting skills and ability to resolve undefined technical problems.
  • An Associate's degree, technical certification, or equivalent professional or military experience in a relevant field.
  • Understanding of network design, protocols, and troubleshooting.
  • Experience managing work and priorities through a ticketing system.
  • In-depth hardware knowledge (e.g., PCIe).
