About the position

The Data Center Smart Hands Technician L1 is responsible for providing on-site technical support in a data center environment. This role involves equipment installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and ensuring operational efficiency through adherence to best practices. The technician will work closely with remote engineers and clients to address technical issues and support various data center operations.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the installation and configuration of servers, network devices, and storage systems in racks.
  • Ensure proper cable management and organization within the data center.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot hardware issues in a timely manner.
  • Perform repairs and replacements of faulty components as needed.
  • Support network device installations and configurations.
  • Assist with basic network troubleshooting, including connectivity issues.
  • Handle fiber optic cables, including termination and patching.
  • Maintain documentation of fiber installations and configurations.
  • Provide general technical assistance as requested by remote engineers and clients.
  • Follow standard operating procedures and best practices to ensure operational efficiency.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in a data center environment.
  • Familiarity with rack and stack processes, hardware troubleshooting, and break-fix methodologies.
  • Basic understanding of networking concepts and fiber optics.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with remote teams.

Nice-to-haves

  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Cisco CCNA) are a plus.
  • Experience with specific data center hardware (e.g., Dell, Client, Cisco) is beneficial.
