About the position

As a Data Center Strategy Manager at Meta, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our global data center infrastructure. This position is part of the Strategic Planning team within IDC, where you will be responsible for developing comprehensive infrastructure strategies and programs that align with Meta's ambitious growth objectives. Your primary focus will be on building a robust global data center roadmap, which includes end-to-end infrastructure scaling strategies and plans aimed at enhancing efficiency across our data center operations. This role is critical as it directly influences investment decisions that encompass billions of dollars, ensuring that our data center footprint scales effectively to meet the increasing demands of our products and services. In this individual contributor role, you will lead transformational strategic initiatives and capacity programs from inception to implementation. You will evaluate trade-offs and drive recommendations to executive leadership, ensuring that your insights are actionable and impactful. Your ability to balance detailed project management with high-level strategic thinking will be essential as you navigate complex initiatives and influence cross-functional teams to challenge the status quo. You will leverage your extensive experience in large-scale infrastructure and technical project management to drive planning and capacity initiatives that optimize our data center operations. Collaboration will be key in this role, as you will work closely with various stakeholders, including capacity engineering, network engineering, construction, site selection, and finance. Your technical expertise will enable you to identify and build large transformational programs that enhance Meta's data center efficiency, focusing on reliability, cost-effectiveness, and operational excellence. You will also be responsible for developing new data center planning strategies that drive improvements in deployment times, power utilization, and service placement optimizations. Responsibilities

  • Identify and build large transformational programs and initiatives across Infrastructure that scale Meta's Data Center footprint efficiently.
  • Develop new Data Center planning strategies that focus on driving improvements in reliability and achieving cost and operational efficiency.
  • Optimize network, hardware, and data center infrastructure footprints to drive total cost of ownership (TCO) savings.
  • Apply quantitative techniques, develop decision scenarios, and trade-offs to drive multi-billion dollar infrastructure decisions.
  • Develop detailed project evaluation plans for data center plan evolution and set the pace to drive closure.
  • Own the communications strategy for data center planning decisions, including executive-level and detailed project briefs and status updates.
  • Use technical judgment to drive new project evaluations, technology reviews, challenge proposals, and build consensus.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience working in Infrastructure/Cloud/Hardware with a background in Strategy, Capacity Planning, Supply Chain Optimization, or technology strategy consulting.
  • Experience distilling diverse data points into actionable insights and recommendations for executive communication and decision making.
  • Strong business acumen and intuition, with experience in forming and refining hypotheses into actionable analysis and recommendations.
  • Analytical and quantitative experience in engaging with analysts, data science, engineering, and user experience research partners.
  • Bachelor's degree in a directly related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Problem-solving and strategy experience, including expansive opportunity identification and framing of complex problems.
  • Experience in completing multiple cloud/infrastructure/hardware efficiency or optimization projects.
  • Technical experience in infrastructure, hardware, or similar designs.
  • Experience collaborating and working with internal and external organizations.

Nice-to-haves

  • Masters Degree or MBA.
  • 12+ years of experience working in Infrastructure/Cloud/Hardware with a background in Strategy, Capacity Planning, Supply Chain Optimization.
