About the position

The Data Center Support Engineer is responsible for the operation and maintenance of 24/7/365 data center facilities, ensuring the reliability of power, cooling, and network systems. This role involves providing support for network and security infrastructure, managing networking devices, and engaging with third-party vendors for escalated support. The engineer will also perform various operational tasks, including system monitoring, troubleshooting, and planning for upgrades and migrations.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain 24/7/365 data center facilities including power and cooling systems.
  • Manage and maintain networking devices such as routers, switches, and firewalls.
  • Perform after-hour activities including minor version upgrades.
  • Engage with third-party vendors for support and escalation regarding Telco and circuit providers.
  • Provide assistance in deployment and support on network management systems.
  • Support private and public IP address allocation and firewall port open requests.
  • Perform day-to-day operational tasks for MACD changes.
  • Provide remote monitoring, management, troubleshooting, and remediation of LAN, WAN, routers, switches, firewalls, and network connectivity.
  • Perform network configuration backups of data center and client network devices.
  • Analyze and diagnose complex networking problems.
  • Support integration of firewalls with other management systems.
  • Provide hands-on support for management tools like Tufin and Net Brain.
  • Install and configure servers, storage systems, and networking hardware.
  • Monitor system performance and capacity, conducting daily inspections of critical equipment.
  • Troubleshoot hardware and software issues, identifying and resolving recurring problems.
  • Plan and execute data center migrations and upgrades, developing disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
  • Conduct regular security audits and implement security measures to protect data center assets.
  • Support incident response and mitigation, adhering to compliance standards.

Requirements

  • 4-8 years of experience providing data center network support.
  • Experience in management and maintenance of networking devices such as routers, switches, and firewalls.
  • Ability to perform after-hour activities including minor version upgrades.
  • Experience engaging with third-party vendors for support and escalation.
  • Knowledge of network management systems and IP address allocation.
