About the position

The Data Center Support Technician role involves providing both remote and occasional on-site support for equipment in a colocation space in North Las Vegas. The technician will primarily focus on monitoring and assisting with backup operations, managing the transition from a legacy Backup Exec environment to Veeam for SQL backups. This part-time position requires hands-on experience with server hardware and general data center operations.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and assist with backups in both the legacy Backup Exec and Veeam environments.
  • Help transition SQL backups to Veeam, providing troubleshooting and support as needed.
  • Perform general troubleshooting and system checks for Windows-based servers.
  • Provide occasional on-site support at the Data center as needed, including physical equipment handling and tape loading.
  • Conduct an initial walkthrough during the week of 11/18 to familiarize yourself with the environment.
  • Perform racking, cabling, and hardware setup when required.
  • Support Dell servers, including remote management via iDRAC.
  • Respond to occasional emergency requests, though no on-call duties or after-hours support are required.

Requirements

  • Hands-on experience with Dell servers and iDRAC for remote management and troubleshooting.
  • Experience working in a data center environment, including racking, cabling, and general hardware setup.
  • Proficiency with Windows server environments.
  • Experience working with legacy Backup Exec and transitioning to or supporting Veeam for backup management.
  • Ability to support backup and restore operations, especially for SQL databases.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with VMware environments and virtualization concepts.
  • Experience with cloud environments such as Azure or AWS.
