About the position

The Data Center/Systems Administrator - II role involves providing IT infrastructure support for Intel's Developer Software Engineering (DSE) lab computer systems in Oregon. The position focuses on building, configuring, and maintaining high-performance computing clusters, predominantly using Linux-based systems and high-performance fabrics. Responsibilities include installation, troubleshooting, and automation of cluster provisioning, as well as user support and documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Build, configure, and maintain high-performance computing clusters and test beds.
  • Install and troubleshoot production and preproduction servers, GPUs, switches, and software.
  • Develop scripts for automation of cluster provisioning and configuration.
  • Provide hardware support for pre-production and production hardware, including system assembly and parts replacement.
  • Manage infrastructure incident ticket resolution and requests from DSE partners.
  • Maintain Intel's security compliance for DSE systems.
  • Document and communicate findings to stakeholders and maintain troubleshooting documentation.
  • Engage with DSE & Lab Compute engineers to drive projects and improve system usability.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in Enterprise Linux and Windows Server Support Administration with Hardware Experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in Storage Support Administration with Hardware Experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in Client Support Administration with Hardware Experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in Virtualization (MS Hyper V, VMWare, etc.).
  • Experience with enterprise automated OS provisioning software for Client & Server build platforms.
  • Experience working in Lab and Datacenter Environments.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with high-performance Linux clustering.
  • Advanced TCP/IP management (DNS, DHCP).
  • Experience in one or more scripting languages, preferably Perl, Python, and/or shell scripting.
  • Network file storage and backup administration.
  • Building non-standard Linux kernels and server management using out-of-band tools.
  • Knowledge of software engineering practices and testing methodologies.
