About the position

As a CBRE Data Center Technical Team Lead, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of a large Data Center. This position involves performing preventative maintenance and complex corrective repairs, which are essential for maintaining the integrity and functionality of critical client environments. You will be part of the Critical and Technical Services job function, responsible for delivering technical maintenance services that are vital to the operation of the data center. Your leadership will be key in coordinating the daily activities of your team, establishing work schedules, assigning tasks, and ensuring that staff are cross-trained to handle various responsibilities effectively. In this role, you will implement ongoing improvements to preventive maintenance programs, ensuring that all maintenance and safety procedure manuals are up to date and effective. You will coordinate maintenance efforts with outside contractors and other personnel, overseeing all building systems, including fire/life safety, plumbing, HVAC, and electrical systems. Staying current with the latest technology trends will be essential to your success. You will also be responsible for maintaining open lines of communication with tenants, clients, owners, and vendors, responding promptly to emergency situations and customer concerns. Your leadership style will be guided by the CBRE RISE values, and you will be expected to model behaviors that promote a positive work environment. You will apply your technical knowledge to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve day-to-day issues, ensuring that the team meets its objectives and maintains high standards of performance.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and manage the team's daily activities.
  • Establish work schedules and assign tasks to team members.
  • Cross-train staff to ensure versatility in roles.
  • Set and track staff and department deadlines.
  • Mentor and coach team members as needed.
  • Implement ongoing improvements for preventive maintenance programs.
  • Maintain effective building-specific maintenance and safety procedure manuals.
  • Coordinate maintenance efforts with outside contractors and tenant finish personnel.
  • Oversee all building systems including fire/life safety, plumbing, HVAC, and electrical issues.
  • Stay current with the latest technology trends.
  • Guide ongoing communication with tenants, clients, owners, facility management team, and vendors.
  • Respond to emergency situations and customer concerns.
  • Lead by example and model behaviors consistent with CBRE RISE values.
  • Influence parties of shared interests to reach agreements.
  • Apply knowledge of own discipline and how it integrates with others to achieve team objectives.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve day-to-day and moderately complex issues.

Requirements

  • Training in a Technical discipline with an apprenticeship or equivalent experience.
  • Journeyman/Electrician or HVAC license preferred, along with state and local licensures where required.
  • Experience in staffing, selection, training, development, coaching, mentoring, measuring, appraising, and rewarding performance.
  • Ability to guide the exchange of sensitive and complicated information.
  • Ability to work shifts that may include weekends and holidays.
  • Must meet the physical requirements of this role.
  • Understanding of existing procedures and standards to solve slightly complex problems.
  • Ability to analyze possible solutions using technical experience to apply appropriate judgment.
  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Strong organizational skills with an inquisitive mindset.
