About the position

Milestone Technologies is seeking a part-time Move, Add, Change Technician to support relocation, deployment, and support projects. This role is essential for ensuring the smooth transition of workstations and servers during moves to new facilities. The technician will be responsible for disconnecting hardware, relocating it, and reconnecting it in the new environment. Candidates should be self-starters who are punctual, motivated, and detail-oriented, with a strong desire to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment. The position requires the ability to work well under pressure, especially during large projects with shifting priorities. A positive attitude, flexibility, and a sense of urgency are crucial for success in this role. The technician will track project activities, review matrix diagrams, identify and document project-related issues, and troubleshoot layer 1 network issues. Responsibilities also include performing inventory management, accurately disconnecting and reconnecting PC workstations, and ensuring proper labeling of equipment. The role involves material handling, including receiving and preparing lab equipment, as well as supporting data center hardware changes and documentation. Basic provisioning and configuration of BIOS may also be required. This position demands physical stamina, as it involves standing for long periods and performing repetitive tasks such as bending, reaching, and heavy lifting.

Responsibilities

  • Track project activities to which you are assigned
  • Review matrix diagrams of desktops and server elevations
  • Identify, document, and escalate project-related issues
  • Troubleshoot layer 1 network issues
  • Accurately read/write and rack elevation drawing, patching matrices, and layer 1 network topologies
  • Perform inventory management and data entry with keen attention to detail
  • Proficiently and accurately disconnect and reconnect PC workstations and peripherals in a timely manner
  • Ensure equipment is accurately labeled with origination/destination information
  • Receive, unbox, and prepare lab equipment, including computer network, storage, and infrastructure hardware
  • Support rack/stack, cabling, labeling, and dressing data center hardware
  • Support Moves, Adds, and Changes and documentation
  • Maintain device inventory in Netbox and spreadsheets
  • Provide basic provisioning and configuration of BIOS

Requirements

  • 3+ years of Data Center Operations experience in large scale environments
  • 3+ years of experience with Layer 1 Computer Repair and troubleshooting
  • Knowledge of a variety of current PC hardware and computer peripherals
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds regularly
  • Basic iOS/Android, Win OS navigation skills
  • Exposure to digital and analog systems equipment deployment/decommissioning
  • Valid Government issued Driver's License, Passport, and ability to travel as necessary
