About the position

The Data Center Tech is responsible for providing high-quality service in a data center facility, ensuring excellent customer care, building relationships, and effectively managing installation activities. This role involves working within a team, demonstrating leadership abilities, and overseeing installation tasks to meet project deadlines and budget requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Installation of telecommunications equipment and associated infrastructure per customer standards.
  • Act as a customer contact and interface with customers and local supervisors to clarify project status.
  • Work well within a team and demonstrate some leadership ability.
  • Plan and layout installation activities to meet dates and budgeted hours, overseeing other personnel when required.
  • Install power, fiber, and switchboard cable, and telecommunications equipment in Data Center and other Telecom facilities.
  • Physically place, remove, or modify non-working equipment including cable trays, data equipment cabinets, servers, switches, routers, and more.
  • Route cables that supply AC and/or DC power or transmit data in various technical spaces.
  • Identify, label, and terminate cables that supply AC and/or DC power or transmit data.
  • Conduct tests and document performance characteristics of hardware and software.
  • Resolve equipment and technical issues.
  • Review, analyze, and interpret work orders, drawings, records, and manuals.
  • Perform quality validation on in-process and completed work.
  • Interact with all members of the organization including Installation, Engineering, and Project Management.
  • Perform other duties as requested by Manager.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical or college degree preferred.
  • One year of experience in a related field.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft programs and applications.
  • Proficient in the use of IOS and/or Android applications.
  • Ability to troubleshoot cabling issues and resolve problems.
  • Ability to troubleshoot hardware and software issues and resolve problems.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Good customer service skills.
  • Good computer soft skills.
