Under limited supervision, the Data Center Technician will perform skilled work involving the operation, maintenance, repair, alteration, and additions to Data Center systems. This includes HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical building systems, as well as building furnishings and site improvements. The position requires a strong understanding of the electrical and mechanical systems used in a data center environment, including feeders, transformers, generators, switchgear, UPS systems, ATS/STS units, PDU/PMM units, chillers, air handling units, and CRAC units. The technician will be responsible for performing preventative and predictive maintenance, troubleshooting, repairing, installing, and operating various types of HVAC-related equipment, emergency generators, and general building mechanical, electrical, and plumbing equipment. The technician must ensure that the root cause of facility problems is identified and repaired quickly, and will also conduct daily inspections of all data center infrastructure equipment, providing systems availability monitoring and reporting. The role requires the technician to perform general building maintenance and repair tasks, such as drywall, masonry, painting, ceilings, roofing, tile, carpets, and windows. Effective communication with contractors and other maintenance personnel is essential to ensure compliance with contract terms and conditions, as well as adherence to company safety, security, environmental, and conduct rules. The technician will also be responsible for maintaining records, including inspection documentation, and ensuring the accuracy of data in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS). The position is a night shift role, operating on a rotating Pittman schedule, which includes working two days, off two days, then working three days, and off two days.
