About the position

The Data Center Technical Manager at CBRE is responsible for overseeing the delivery of technical services for global data center clients. This role involves managing vendor maintenance contracts, ensuring compliance with client SLAs, and maintaining operational excellence across multiple facilities. The manager will lead a team, develop operational processes, and ensure the safety and efficiency of data center operations.

Responsibilities

  • Support the management of a team of Technical Leaders and Managers to create and maintain operational processes and procedures.
  • Manage operations and maintenance for assigned facilities and develop operating and capital budgets.
  • Drive the acquisition of new management contracts and facilitate the development of as-built drawings.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with high-profile tenants, clients, owners, facility management teams, and vendors.
  • Recommend and implement improvements for preventive maintenance programs.
  • Provide technical support during incidents and for client projects.
  • Review and approve High Risk emergency operating procedures for clients worldwide.
  • Provide strategic and operational support on process/standards across the Global portfolio.
  • Evaluate technical operational processes and procedures for continual improvement.
  • Support the management and production of asset management plans for each client location.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety policies and processes across all activities.
  • Present critical facility program and audit results to senior management.
  • Perform customer interface activities including scheduling and reporting findings.
  • Audit processes and procedures and perform compliance audits to identify gaps and risks.
  • Oversee the development of operation procedural documents from commissioning documentation and site drawings.
  • Support critical facilities commissioning standards within the accounts.
  • Provide support in the sales and pricing process for 3rd party vendor contracts.
  • Target cost-saving initiatives while maintaining contract support.
  • Assist in the development of expansion and renewal proposals for sales and marketing.
  • Coordinate performance evaluations and technical environmental audits.
  • Provide support and training for onsite engineering Managers/Supervisors.
  • Deliver employee training programs to improve awareness of processes.
  • Manage technical library content and structure globally.
  • Execute operational and performance risk assessments.
  • Lead by example and model behaviors consistent with CBRE RISE values.
  • Identify and solve complex technical and operational problems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering preferred with 5 - 8 years of relevant experience, or a combination of experience and education.
  • 10 years experience in Data Centers or Critical Facilities preferred.
  • Ability to lead the exchange of sensitive and complicated information.
  • Leadership skills to motivate the team to achieve operational targets.
  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
  • Extensive organizational skills and an advanced inquisitive mindset.
  • Knowledge of redundancy levels and operational risk.
  • Knowledge of mechanical and electrical distribution systems and equipment function.
  • Understanding of procedures and customer requirements in critical facilities.
  • Experience in staffing, selection, training, development, coaching, mentoring, and performance appraisal.
