About the position

As a CBRE Technical Manager, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the mechanical operations, maintenance, communications, energy management, and workforce development programs for a facility, campus, or portfolio of buildings. This position is part of the Engineering and Technical Services job function, where you will be responsible for providing support, preventive maintenance, and repairs on various equipment and systems. Your leadership will be essential in ensuring that the team operates efficiently and effectively, maintaining high standards of service and safety. In this role, you will provide formal supervision to employees, which includes supervising their training and development. You will conduct performance evaluations, mentor staff, and coordinate the recruiting and hiring of new employees. Managing the team's daily activities will be a key responsibility, where you will establish work schedules, assign tasks, and ensure that staff are cross-trained to handle various responsibilities. You will also set and track deadlines for both staff and the department, providing mentorship and coaching as needed. Your responsibilities will extend to managing operations and maintenance for assigned facilities, assisting in the development of operating and capital budgets, and implementing ongoing improvements for preventive maintenance programs. You will maintain effective building-specific maintenance and safety procedure manuals and coordinate maintenance efforts with outside contractors, tenant finish personnel, and technicians. Overseeing all building systems, including fire/life safety, plumbing, HVAC, and electrical issues, will be critical, and you must stay current with the latest technology trends. Effective communication will be vital as you guide ongoing interactions with tenants, clients, owners, facility management teams, and vendors. You will also facilitate the acquisition of new management contracts and maintain as-built drawings. In emergency situations, your ability to respond promptly and address customer concerns will be essential. Leading by example, you will model behaviors consistent with CBRE RISE values and influence parties of shared interests to reach agreements. Your knowledge of your discipline and how it integrates with others will help achieve team and departmental objectives, while your problem-solving skills will enable you to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve day-to-day and moderately complex issues that may arise.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred with 3-5 years of relevant experience; a combination of experience and education will be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Experience in staffing, selection, training, development, coaching, mentoring, and performance appraisal preferred.
  • Ability to guide the exchange of sensitive and complicated information and convey performance expectations.
  • Leadership skills to empower team impact on quality, efficiency, and effectiveness.
  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Extensive interpersonal skills with a strong inquisitive mind.
