About the position

The Data Center Technician II at DataBank is responsible for providing exceptional customer service and technical support within a data center environment. This role involves managing customer interactions, maintaining facility standards, and ensuring compliance with security protocols while handling various technical installations and troubleshooting tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain effective customer relationships, ensuring customer satisfaction.
  • Answer customer phone calls and emails in a timely and professional manner.
  • Complete installation, testing, and close out of new customer orders and provide computer/server hardware and software support.
  • Monitor and resolve troubleshooting technical issues and alarms with DataBank infrastructure.
  • Perform physical security walkthroughs and administer security sign-in procedures for all colocation customers and visitors.
  • Accurately capture time invested on tasks and ensure timely submission of timesheets.
  • Maintain facility cleanliness and readiness at all times.
  • Assist with readings of equipment draw/customer audits as needed.
  • Support vendor maintenance activities within the data center.

Requirements

  • High school diploma required.
  • 2-4 years of data center experience or demonstrated ability to meet responsibilities/qualifications.
  • Knowledge of Windows operating systems, both PC and server side.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to learn quickly and apply new knowledge and skills immediately.
  • Ability to assess situations and escalate properly, following internal procedures.
  • Familiarity with basic hardware troubleshooting tasks, such as replacing hard drives, memory, and motherboards.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous NOC/SOC/IOC experience preferred.
  • College degree in a related discipline preferred.
  • Familiarity with DS1, DS3, Ethernet, and fiber circuits is a plus.
  • Basic knowledge of switches, firewalls, and managed storage is a plus.
