About the position

The Data Center Technician 3 at Oracle plays a crucial role in maintaining and supporting the infrastructure within the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) data center environments. This position involves hardware installation, troubleshooting, and monitoring of data center systems, ensuring optimal performance and reliability. The technician will work in a 24/7 environment, handling various tasks related to server and networking equipment, while also contributing to process improvements and automation efforts.

Responsibilities

• Perform hardware installation and decommissioning of enterprise servers and cabling infrastructure.
• Troubleshoot and repair data center hardware and networking infrastructure.
• Rack and stack data center equipment, including servers and networking devices.
• Monitor data center environments using monitoring tools and respond to tickets in a collaborative environment.
• Document activities and create/modify Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Manage the decommission life cycle of data center hardware and inventory processes.
• Order replacement parts and return failed parts as required.
• Conduct structured cabling, labeling, and troubleshooting of fiber/copper/telecom cables.
• Install, troubleshoot, and repair system power supplies and cabling.
• Complete small projects independently and assist in larger projects as needed.

Requirements

• 2 years of experience working in an IT environment.
• Experience troubleshooting servers, networking devices, and IT equipment.
• Knowledge of server/storage/network hardware.
• Inventory management experience, including ordering, receiving, and shipping server parts.
• Ability to prioritize work based on business needs and urgency.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Experience taking on-call shifts and responding to critical events.

Nice-to-haves

• 2-year or 4-year degree or relevant work experience.
• 2 years of data center experience.
• Knowledge of Linux administration and ability to run Linux commands.
• Experience in data center infrastructure projects.
• 1 year of experience in structured cabling (copper/fiber) and testing of cables.
• 1 year of experience in cooling and electrical systems concepts inside the data center.
