About the position

The Data Center Technician role at AWS Infrastructure Services involves supporting the design, planning, delivery, and operation of AWS global infrastructure. This position is crucial for maintaining the cloud's functionality, ensuring that customers have continuous access to services. The technician will troubleshoot infrastructure issues, create documentation, and support junior staff while collaborating with a diverse team of professionals.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure issues, escalating complex problems as necessary.
• Create and maintain documentation on supported technologies and convey standard operating procedures (SOPs) to junior staff.
• Execute small projects independently and assist in planning larger local projects with management.
• Act as an escalation point for junior technicians and support team members.
• Understand and manage all aspects of the equipment supported.

Requirements

• Associate's degree or higher in an IT-related field, applicable certifications, and equivalent professional or military experience.
• 2+ years of experience in computer hardware and technical troubleshooting.
• Current, active US Government Security Clearance of Top Secret or above.

Nice-to-haves

• Networking experience with CCNA and/or Network+ certifications.
• Experience with CISCO, Juniper, and other networking devices.
• Experience working in a Data Center environment, including racking and stacking equipment and cable management.
• Familiarity with IT hardware concepts such as RAID, SAN, x86 architecture, and SCSI.
• Knowledge of Linux administration, command line interface, and boot processes.
• Experience with scripting languages like Perl, Python, and Bash.
