About the position

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking fully cleared Data Center Technicians to join our expanding Infrastructure Operations team. As a Data Center Technician, you will play a crucial role in maintaining one of the world's largest information system infrastructures. This position requires a strong technical background and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve a variety of data center infrastructure issues, including hardware, fiber, networking, and related problems. You will be part of a diverse team that includes software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, and operations managers, all working together to ensure the highest standards for safety and security while providing exceptional service to our customers. In this role, you will engage in physical data center activities, which may include planning and tracking capacity, rack deployment, cabling, hardware and software troubleshooting, and decommissioning of racks. You will be required to lift and move materials weighing up to 49 pounds, work in cramped or elevated locations, and stand or walk for extended periods. The position also involves working in a noisy environment and may require shifts longer than 8 hours to support 24/7 operations, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Our Data Center Technician professionals are expected to take ownership of technical issues, demonstrate strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, and maintain service level agreements through proactive issue detection and reporting. Responsibilities

  • Engage in physical data center activities including planning and tracking capacity, rack deployment, and cabling.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, fiber, networking, and related issues.
  • Lift and move materials up to 49 pounds each.
  • Work in cramped and/or elevated locations as needed.
  • Stand and walk for up to 8+ hours a day.
  • Ascend and descend ladders, stairs, and gangways safely.
  • Work in a noisy environment and manage shifts longer than 8 hours to support 24/7 operations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent, or A+ or CND (Certified Network Defender) or Network+ or Security+ certification.
  • Current, active US Government Security Clearance of TS/SCI with Polygraph.
  • Experience in data center environments, including racking and stacking gear and cable management.
  • Hands-on experience with hardware platforms such as Dell or HP is a plus.
  • Networking experience with CCNA and/or Network+ certifications is a plus.
  • Associate's degree in IT-related field plus two years of progressively responsible experience preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with AWS Infrastructure Services.
  • Knowledge of computer architecture and the OSI model.
  • Previous experience in troubleshooting and problem-solving in a technical environment.
