About the position

The Data Center Technician role at Amazon Data Services involves supporting the operation and maintenance of AWS global infrastructure. This position is crucial for ensuring the reliability and efficiency of data centers, requiring strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team of engineers and specialists. The technician will be responsible for resolving infrastructure issues, maintaining documentation, and executing projects while adhering to safety and security standards.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure issues for AWS data centers.
  • Create and maintain documentation on supported technologies.
  • Convey standard operating procedures (SOPs) to junior staff.
  • Execute small projects independently and assist in larger projects with management.
  • Act as an escalation point for junior technicians.
  • Understand and support all aspects of the equipment in the data center.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree or higher in an IT-related field or equivalent professional/military experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in computer hardware and technical troubleshooting.
  • Current, active US Government Security Clearance of Top Secret or above.

Nice-to-haves

  • Networking experience with CCNA and/or Network+ certifications.
  • Experience with CISCO, Juniper, and other networking devices.
  • Experience in a Data Center environment, including racking and stacking equipment and cable management.
  • Familiarity with IT hardware concepts such as RAID, SAN, and x86 architecture.
  • Experience with Linux administration and command line interface.
