About the position

The Data Center Technician Apprentice is an entry-level role at NTT Global Data Centers Americas, Inc. This position is designed for individuals looking to develop their technical skills in data center operations. The apprentice will work closely with experienced Data Center Technicians to ensure the operational integrity and regulatory compliance of various systems, including electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and fire life safety systems. The role involves hands-on work, training, and assisting in maintenance tasks to maximize customer uptime and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Operate, monitor, maintain, and respond to abnormal conditions in multiple facility systems including Electrical, Mechanical, Plumbing, Fire Life Safety, and Building Monitoring and Control.
• Assist in ensuring the operational integrity and regulatory compliance of data center systems.
• Work with contractors and consultants for system expansions, corrections, and upgrades.
• Track, document, and complete preventive and predictive maintenance schedules.
• Analyze existing operating conditions and recommend new approaches to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
• Assist with managing data center systems to avoid unplanned, customer-impacting events.
• Develop technical writing skills for creating maintenance procedures.
• Maintain client cages on the data floor and manage consumable items.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Entry-level knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems used in a data center environment.
• Demonstrated technical ability applicable to data center operations.
• Ability to rapidly learn and use PC-based monitoring and control systems.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Nice-to-haves

• Associate of Science in Technology or equivalent education and/or work experience desired.
• CPR/First Aid and NFPA70E Certification obtained during employment.
• Possession of an OSHA approved forklift certification or the ability to obtain one after employment.
